InI Oneness herald
from the north east, Leeds, Yorkshire. The UK Players from the south west,
Salisbury, Wiltshire. In
a country where digital dub has ruled the roost for the past decade, InI Oneness & The
UK Players are a breath of fresh air. Very much a live band, InI Oneness & The UK
Players have been moving in combination from the summer of 97. The
band has clocked up over 200 gigs to date. Debut 7 single Further was
released in Nov. 97 and was played by Aba-Shanti, Iration Steppas, Jah Trinity and
Jah Shaka sound systems. Also, John Peel (radio one) and Joey Jay (kiss fm). A 25 date UK
tour ensured good sales of the single. 1998
saw the band playing frequently, highlights included Bob Marleys birthday celebration at
Newcastle University with Jah Shaka. HIM birthday celebration at Lands End with Jah Works
sound and the Young Lions. The first ever northern reggae weekender alongside the
Shanti-Ites, Jah Warrior and Hughie Izachaar. Also a well toured festival circuit included
Guildford 98, Megadog in Cornwall and Blandford festival. The
gigging pace of 98 continued throughout November and December with the band clocking
in another 20 date tour of major UK cities. This tour firmly established InI Oneness &
The UK Players on the live circuit and garnered them a core following in the UK. 1999
saw the band enter Seventh Sense Studio to record their debut album. Toured France
throughout February and did a mini tour of the UK in March. Other gigs included their
first in London at SOAS, which sold out. An A.F.A. benefit in Bristol with the Rhythm-Ites
and Gary Clail. At Colne International R&B Festival the band did three gigs at three
different venues in one day! Other festival highlights included Glastonbury, The Northern
Green Gathering and Guildford 99. The
band kick-started the year 2000 playing live on New Years eve in Southampton. They
embarked on an 18 date promotional tour for the Take Heed LP throughout March and April,
taking in the UK and France. The
album Take Heed was recorded, produced and mixed by Rej Forte at Seventh Sense
Studio. It is a unique album in that it was recorded entirely on 8-track analogue
equipment, using no computers, sequences or drum machines. It captures the live sound of
The UK Players with old school recording techniques and is released in June 2000. The
band are currently preparing for the summers festival circuit and the release of Take Heed. Future plans are afoot for
tours of the UK and Europe for autumn/winter 2000. To
anyone unaccustomed to reggae, dub or Rastafari, InI Oneness and The UK Players are a
musical education of enlightening proportions, capable of bringing the best out of an
audience and creating a wonderful atmosphere. With literally hundreds of gigs to their credit and a wealth of experience in the live department, InI Oneness and The UK Players are a seriously happening proposition for any club, venue or festival
